    This Avro Lancaster B.III Plastic Model Airplane Kit comprises 234 parts. This model kit made by Airfix requires assembly and is 1:72 scale (approx. 43cm / 16.9in wingspan). As the third of Britain's four engined heavy bombers to enter RAF service during WWII - the Avro Lancaster proved to be an exceptional aircraft - possessing a large unobstructed bomb bay - which allowed it to carry some of the largest bombs of the war. At least thirty five Lancasters managed to complete an astonishing 100 missions or more and are referred to by historians and enthusiasts as the 'Lancaster Centurions' - an exclusive group of extremely hard working bombers. Skill level 3 - paint and glue required.

    Scale Guide

    Diecast models are manufactured to various scales based on measurements taken from the actual vehicles. The rule to remember is the higher the scale number, the smaller the model!

    So, 1:2 scale quite ltierally means it is 1/2 (half) the size and 1:4 scale means it is 1/4 (quarter) the size.  Here is a rough guide to the size of our models although this will vary depending on the size of the actual vehicle. Please note that the scale and size of models differs per department. Please refer to the individual product page to find out the estimated size of the actual model you would like to purchase.
