It looked like a podium finish was on for the Brit as he took P3 from the start - but lost out to Max Verstappen as he charged through the field to make up for a less than ideal qualifying. Eventual third place finisher Fernando Alonso received an intial five second penalty for lining up outside his grid box - and served the pentalty during the race. However - the race stewards were unhappy with the way the penalty was carried out - and initially gave Alonso another ten second penalty - promoting Russell to the third spot on the podium. Another steward review was carried out and eventually the additional ten second penalty was dropped and Alonso finished third and Russel fourth one place ahead of his teammate Hamilton. Despite the disappointment - fourth was still a good result for the young Brit.
