Thor Rocket

This Thor Rocket plastic model spacecraft. It is made by Glencoe Models and is 1:87 scale. The Thor rocket, or missile, was developed by the Air Force as an intermediate range ballistic missile (IRBM) to carry a thermonuclear warhead. Named after the Norse god of thunder, the Thor was developed by the Douglas Aircraft Company in just nine and one half months. As a necessity for overseas deployment, it was designed to fit into C-124 and C-133 transport aircraft. It would serve in England untill 1963.
